Police has deployed heavily at the home of Mukono Municipality Member of Parliament Betty Nambooze.

Nambooze had planned to meet residents of Mukono at 10am at Kame Valley Market to seeki their signatures for a petition to drag President Museveni to the International Criminal Court-ICC.

Two weeks ago, the People’s Government launched a petition aimed at asking the prosecutor at the ICC, Justice Fatou Bensouda, to prosecute President Museveni and his implicated officials on crimes against humanity.

However, police led by the Mukono Crime Investigative -CID department boss Catherine Tesima stopped the organisers from erecting the tents.   More than 30 police officers then headed to Nambooze’s home at Nakabago, surrounded it and blocked her from moving out.

A police source who preferred anonymity says that they are on high alert following reports that the Kampala Capital City Authority-KCCA Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago is expected to attend the event.

Tesima says Nambooze did not seek permission from Police to organize the meeting.   Allan Mawanda the lead organizer has vowed to go ahead with the event.
