Heavy rains have destroyed gardens and houses in Kasaka village, Kitanda Sub County in Bukomansimbi district.

The Thursday evening rains destroyed Coffee, Banana, Maize, Beans and Cassava plantations.

Although it is not yet clear if how many houses were damaged by the heavy rains, a sub-county representative Fred Lukyamuzi confirms several houses were de-roofed.

Lukyamuzi says over 6 acres of Coffee, Maize and Banana plantations ready for harvest have been destroyed.

The rain, which started at 4pm, saw hailstones come down and heavy winds level many plantations.

Michael Kimbowa says he has lost his Tomato garden.

Prossy Nabosa says her gardens have been destroyed and she is not sure how she will feed her family. She hopes the Ministry of Disaster Preparedness will come to their aid.

Bukomansimbi district is just recovering from a dry spell. The destruction brought on by the heavy rains leaves the district facing famine.
