Mission Samuel, the Chief Security Officer of Kyambogo University, in the eve of graduation on Monday told Uganda Radio Network that, they received the information that there are some people who are organizing to disrupt the graduation function, and as a result, they had to tighten the security at the University.

A joint
security team has been deployed around
Kyambogo University on day one of graduation at the institution.
Among the
deployed forces is Uganda Police Force-UPF, local Defense Force Unity – LDU,
Army and Kamed security Limited, a private security company contracted to
Kyambogo University.
Mission

that some people were planning to disrupt the graduation
ceremony , and as a result, they had to tighten security at the University.
Participation
in this 17th graduation is by the invite. The security personnel is turning
away whoever is not on the list of invited people.
At
Kyambogo University main gate, there are
over 30 security personnel, Banda gate has over 20, Kabaka gate is manned by 15
officers and the majority of others are patrolling the University premises.
A total number of
nine thousand five hundred and twenty one-9521 students have been successfully
approved by Kyambogo University Senate to graduate in the 17th
graduation.
Professor Eli
Katunguka, the Vice-Chancellor of Kyambogo University revealed that out of 9,521
students are 5,074 are Males and 4,447 are females. He said that 251 students
managed to score first-class degrees. One hundred sixty four-164 males and
eighty seven-87 are females.
The 17th Kyambogo University graduation ceremony
will be virtual and will have a maximum of one hundred and ten-110 invited
participants who will appear physically at University Eastern sports grounds
and those that shall attend virtually.
The invited guests include H.E the President Yoweri
Kaguta Museveni who will be the Chief Guest and will address the guests from
the Statehouse. Other guests to attend are; Minister of Education and Sports
Janet Kataaha Museveni, two-2 students with special needs, four-4 best students
per faculty and graduate students among others.
