There is heavy deployment of Uganda Peoples Defense Forces- UPDF
soldiers at Hoima Boma grounds ahead of Gen. Mugisha Muntu’s Campaign Rallies
in Hoima and Kikuube districts.
Muntu is expected to hold two rallies in Kikuube on Sunday Morning and later in
Hoima district and City today in the afternoon.
But by 6 am, UPDF soldiers had already sealed off Hoima Boma grounds to the
public.
Captain Joseph Maada, the 303 Brigade Counter Intelligence Officer says that the
deployment is aimed at preventing any campaign rallies at Hoima Boma grounds
which is in the center of the City.
He says they have received intelligence that some of the Alliance for National
Transformation-ANT supporters want to cause mayhem in the City Center and forcefully
hold a rally at the grounds.
ANT Party leaders in Hoima district have been running radio announcements
mobilizing their supporters to converge at Hoima Boma grounds to receive Muntu.
According to Maada, they will not allow anybody to hold rallies at Hoima Boma
grounds and they are ready to handle any situation.

He says people should not be scared by the deployment saying it is
meant to protect them and their property.
Jackson Wabyona, the ANT Coordinator western region says they are not bothered
by the heavy deployment saying it is aimed at intimidating their supporters.
