The High Court in Mbarara has extended the interim order halting
the impeachment of Ntungamo LC V Chairperson.
Last month, Amos Kwizera the Deputy Registrar, ruled that the
Impeachment proceedings against Denis Singahache be put on halt until when the
substantive application shall be heard.
On Monday, Kwizera extended the interim order until the 24th of February 2020
when the case filed by Singahache will be heard in the High Court.
Singahache filed for an interim order restraining the district council from
taking any further step in the impeachment proceedings.
The district councillors were planning to move a vote of no confidence against Singahache,
who they accuse of incompetence, corruption and disrespect.
The
interim order was filed by Ngaruye Ruhindi on behalf Singahache as the
applicant against Atuhaire Elijah the district speaker, the Attorney General
and the Minister of Local Government as the respondents.
