Close to 20 hospital cleaners at Hoima regional referral hospital walked out in dispute over pay.
The cleaners employed by MN Cares, decided to down their tools this morning and instead pitched camp at the hospital\'s Out Patient Ward, demanding pay for the last two months.
Edward Kisembo, one of the striking workers says that they have since June not been paid any salaries.
The striking workers lamented about the rising difficulties of sustaining their families amid shrinking pockets.
Kisembo and his group had earlier vowed not to resume work for as long as it takes the hospital administration to clear all outstanding arrears.
Francis Mulwanyi, the hospital\'s medical superintendent later addressed the cleaners and convinced them to call off the strike.
He explained that the salaries had not been paid on time because there were delays in the transfer of the monies from the hospital's account to MN Care\'s, the company that was contracted to manage the cleaning activities at the hospital.
The medical superintendent also disclosed that most staffs at the hospital had not yet received their pay, but promised that all outstanding claims will be cleared on Friday.
The cleaners have agreed to call off the strike until Friday.
