Two newly elected Woman Members of Parliament for Hoima and Kaabong districts have this afternoon taken oath.

Harriet Businge was declared winner of the Hoima Woman MP seat after defeating Forum of Democratic Change-FDC party candidate Asinansi Nyakato with 33,210 votes while Christine Nakwang Tubo, the Woman MP Kaabong Nakwang defeated Forum for Democratic Change’s (FDC) party’s Judith Adyaka Nalibe.

Adyaka quit the race weeks before the polling day over alleged limited support from the party.

Nakwang garnered 22,532 votes against Adyaka’s 1,692 votes.

Despite an on-going investigation of alleged ballot stuffing in the by-elections by EC, Businge took oath amidst ululations from the NRM party MPs.

Following her election, there have been reports and counter-accusations of voter bribery and rigging by both camps.

The administration of oath was presided over by Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga.

Businge was presented with the Constitution and the Parliament Rules of Procedure.
