The Busoga East police spokesperson, James Mubi says that some government drugs were recovered from Waiswa's residence within Bugiri town.
Police in Bugiri district have arrested Aisha Kitimbo, the Bugiri
hospital pharmacist, and Joram Waiswa, a volunteer over allegations of drug
It is alleged that the two connived to steal 11 tins of antimalarial drugs and
136 blood pressure drugs known as Artovarstine.
A nurse who preferred anonymity says that they searched for the drugs in vain,
and alerted the police.
On Thursday, Kitimbo and Waiswa were detained at Bugiri Central Police Station
for further investigations.
The hospital administrators have declined to comment about the matter, however,
Kitimbo claims that the allegations against her are false and baseless.
"I am a trained pharmacist who cannot steal drugs meant to
treat my patients, and I believe that all those allegations against me are
false, but I am ready to be investigated by police," she says.
