The Iganga District NRM Chairperson, Abubaker Walubi was rushed to Mulago Hospital last evening with head injuries he sustained at Mecca mosque along Nakavule road in Iganga municipality.

According to information obtained by URN, Walubiri slid and hit his head on stairs as he was leaving Mecca mosque after the 7:00pm prayers.

"We parted with Hajji Walubi after prayers. But in less than 5 minutes of our conversation, I heard him scream for help and we immediately rushed to rescue our friend who was bleeding from his head," the source said.

Walubi's family member told URN on condition of anonymity that he was Iganga Medical Center where he spent some time and was referred to Mulago National Referral Hospital at 10:00pm.

"Hajji was admitted for only two hours at the clinic, but could not speak to anyone of us, however, at around 10:00pm, the doctors ordered us to organize an ambulance and rush him to Mulago hospital," he said.

Dennis Menha, a Clinical Officer who attended to Walubi, says the NRM party official suffered severe head injuries.

"He suffered head injuries and was lying unconscious at the same time bleeding profusely, so we decided to dress his wounds before referring him to Mulago hospital for better management," he said.
