The Inspector General of Government has ordered the Kaberamaido district service commission, to suspend the recruitment of the District Education officer.

The order stems from reports that the recruitment has been fraught with serious irregularities. Six people were short listed last month but none of them has been interviewed to date.

Robert Engulu, the district chairperson is accused of refusing to endorse the candidates recommended by the commission.

In the December 18th letter, the IGG, Faith Mwonda, said that the commission should discontinue proceedings of identifying the best candidate for the position of the DEO.

Mwonda says the district service commission should not appoint the DEO until she concludes her investigations into the way the recruitment exercise has so far been handled.

The district chairperson however says that the recruitment of the DEC has been delayed by the lack of qualified people fit for the job.
