Robert Onoba, Agago district
returning officer says Acan presented academic documents for both O’level and A’level
bearing the name Janet Acan Francis but her National ID had Janet Acan.
Acan was first advised to correct
the anomaly on the first day of the nomination exercise on Thursday, using NIRA Offices
in Gulu, but failed to get the necessary assistance.
Onoba notes that Acan couldn’t be
nominated because she failed to return with a substantive clarification on the inconsistencies
in her names on the academic documents and her National ID.
Acan however told Uganda Radio
Network in an interview that the discrepancies on her documents were as a
result of fault from NIRA officials who didn’t capture her full names.
Aspirants who have successfully been nominated to contest for the district woman MP seat are Winny Okidi who is independent, Judith Franka Akello who is the FDC flag bearer, Lillian Abalo Ongom also contesting as an independent and Beatrice Akello Akori on the NRM ticket.
A total of 19 parliamentary
aspirants were nominated to contest for Agago West constituency, Agago County
and Agago Woman MP seat between Thursday and Friday.
