Jinja City Mayor Sacks Works Secretary

According to a letter seen by URN, Kasolo directed Mbazira to the handover office in a period of 48 hours.
The Jinja City Mayor, Peter Kasolo, on Tuesday revoked the appointment of Richard Mbazira as Secretary Works over unknown reasons.

Mbazira was last year appointed as the works secretary, a position he served for the past six months.

Kasolo noted that the powers to appoint and dismiss executive members are accorded to him within the provisions of the local government act but, he declined to divulge the details surrounding Mbazira’s sacking.

"I revoked his membership from the Jinja City Executive Committee and in turn as works secretary in line with section 2(a) of the local government act cap 243," he says.

According to a letter seen by URN, Kasolo directed Mbazira to the handover office in a period of 48 hours.

"The termination of your services takes immediate effect and you shall be required to prepare a handover report and further handover all official documents and property you hold by virtue of that former appointment, to me within 48 hours from receipt of this communication," he says.

Meanwhile, Mbazira declined to comment about the matter, arguing that he was yet to receive a letter confirming his dismissal.
