Councillors in Jinja district have faulted the Resident District Commissioner, Eric Sakwa for insulting them during radio talk shows and public gatherings.

The councillors say that Sakwa’s statements are making them unpopular and derailing their political careers.

Speaking during a special council sitting held at the district headquarters on Thursday, Richard Mbazira, the male councillor representing Walukuba-Masese division says that, Sakwa refers to local leaders as illiterates who cannot do much for their people.

Mbazira says that they have spoken to Sakwa to stop humiliating them in vain.

Cue out…corrupt,”

Mbazira further proposed that Sakwa should be barred from attending council proceedings as one of the disciplinary measures against him.

However, the District Speaker, Michael Nyende refused to heed to the councillor’s demands.

Nyende further referred the matter to district executive committee for further scrutiny.

“We should handle some of these issues amicably before writing off Sakwa completely, and I have chosen to refer this matter to the district executive committee for further scrutiny,” he said.

The Jinja LC5 Chairperson Titus Kisambira says that Sakwa should address the leaders’ shortcomings to responsible authorities rather than, using the press to insult politicians.

//Cue in: “RDC desist from…

Cue out…putting up an investigation,”

However, Sakwa says that he will not stop naming and shaming political leaders despite efforts by some politicians to taint his image.

“I was to do supervisory work of government agencies on behalf of the president, and I won’t stop reigning hard on corrupt leaders despite their tireless efforts to taint me in the public eye,” he said.
