JKL Dolphins Men, Women Maintain Unbeaten run in NBL

Just Kip Living (JKL) Dolphins basketball club stopped Betway Power 62-59 on Sunday night to maintain their unbeaten run in the National Basketball League (NBL).

  Dolphins came from down to seal their victory in a hotly contested game played at YMCA arena.

  JKL lost the first and second quarter 8-10 and 13 on 16 respectively.

  A hardly fought third quarter saw the teams tie with 16-16.

However, in the fourth quarter, JKL helped by shooting guard Jude Ochen stretched their lead to 25 points against Powers 17 points taking a slim 62-59 win against Betway side.

Ochen made 14 points for JKL with four rebounds and one assist. Cyrus Kiviri was the scorer of the day for the Power side with 24 points, two rebound and two assists.

The win puts JKL at the top of the national basketball league with four wins in four games registering 8 points. City Oilers come second with six points followed by Ndejje University with 5 points.

JKL stopped Our Savior and Sharing Youths in the first two NBL encounters.

Nkumba’s Brenda Ekone had 24 points with 2 rebounds and an assist, while JKL’s Jamilah Nansikombi 18 points with 2 rebounds, and three assists.

In the ladies game played earlier, JKL lady Dolphins stopped Nkumba Lady Marines 76-49 also maintaining an unbeaten run in the tournament.

The lady Dolphins stopped Uganda Christian University (UCU) Lady canons 76-67, before edging A1 challenge 70-42 and Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) Leopards 70-49.     

JKL ladies top the women league with 6 points.
