Justice Paul Mugamba has ordered directors of Motor Care Limited to appear before the anti corruption court in person to answer for their involvement in the fraudulent activities in the supply of vehicles and police motorcycles used for the 2007 Common Wealth Head of Government-CHOGM. Motor care was dragged before the anti corruption court jointly with Professor Gilbert Bukenya, the former vice president by the Inspectorate of Government.

The state accused Bukenya and Motor Care of conniving to commit fraudulent acts in the Shs. 9.4 Billion contract to supply of 80 Units of BMW and 1200 RT Police outrider motor cycles. This morning, Bukenya appeared before anti corruption court judge Paul Mugamba for the trial of the fraud case against him and Motor Care Uganda Limited. Motor Care was represented by its sales manager Moses Banturaki and lawyer Fred Makada.

Makada explained to court that the directors of Motor Care Uganda Limited were not in court because they were away in Denmark. But Justice Mugamba said Bukenya could not stand trial alone in the case in the absence of his co-accused. He ordered the directors of Motor Care Uganda Limited to appear before court on November 16 for the trial of their case.

This is not the first time court has ordered the directors of Motor Care Uganda Limited to appear in court in person over the same case. In August 2010, Sarah Langa, the trial Magistrate at the Anti-Corruption Court summoned the directors of Motor Care to appear before court in vain.

She issued the order after Edmand Wakida, a lawyer representing Motor Care, presented Moses Banturaki, the sales and marketing manager and the finance and administrative manager, Florence Ssempebwa Makada, saying the company had proposed them to represent it.
