Security authorities in Kabale District have ordered administrators of Cross Country Transport Company to relocate their operations to Kabale Taxi Park from the Bus Park.

The order follows a Thursday’s secret meeting between authorities, Cross Country Transport Company and Kabale District Taxi Operators and Drivers Cooperative Union leaders resulting from a feud over passengers and route operations.

The transport company, known for its services to Kabale town and Kigali in Rwanda, recently expanded its operations, causing discontent among local taxi drivers. In response to the company's actions, taxi drivers on June 10, 2024, emptied their park next to the Bus Park and blocked Company drivers from loading passengers or leaving the area.

The situation escalated into exchanges of bitter words until security authorities intervened later in the day and ordered each faction to vacate as the matter was followed up.

Godfrey Nyakahuma, Kabale Resident District Commissioner revealed to our reporter that after authorities looked into the matter they realized that the company and other taxi drivers do similar business. Nyakahuma says that security also observed that there are no justifiable reasons for the company not to join Taxi Park and operate under taxi body rules.

Joseph Bakaleke, Kabale District Police Commander says that security authorities have however scrutinized the company and found it legible and registered with the Transport Ministry adding that there is no need for a feud between its workers and other taxi drivers to stay.
