Nsasirwe is accused of illegally wedding the former Diocesan Dean Rev. Norbert Tibikoma. It is alleged that the banns of marriage were not read in the Church for 21 days as it is the requirement.
The suspended Ven Johnmark Nsasirwe
Christians of Kaburegye Archdeaconry in West Ankole Diocese have
protested the suspension of their Archdeacon Ven. John Mark Nsasirwe.
Nsasirwe is accused of illegally wedding the former Diocesan Dean
Rev. Norbert Tibikoma.
It is alleged that
the banns of marriage were not read in the Church for 21 days as it is the
Rev. Tibikoma lost his wife Agnes Tibikoma in February this year
and decided to marry again.
According to Ven Nsasirwe, he received a phone call from the
diocesan secretary asking him to report to his office where he was given a

The Christians have protested the suspension and asked the diocese
leadership to rescind the decision.

Beth Kyarisiima, one of the protesters says the accusations are
false and that it has been a norm of wedding people without announcing them in
most churches around the diocese.

Ven. Nsasirwe, however, refuted the accusations saying he followed
all the procedures that are required by the church.
When contacted the Diocesan Secretary Rev Didas Natwenta said he
was not in the office and was not aware of the protest. He refused to comment on the suspension of

It took the interventions of the police to calm the aggrieved
Christians who were demanding an explanation from the Bishop.
The police commanded by the Officer in Charge of operations
Bushenyi Mark Odochi asked Christians to leave the premises and write to the
church hierarchy to respond to their queries.
