Kagadi Woman Robbed at Gunpoint

The gunmen waylaid Nakawesi as she was returning home from her shop.
Kyotera B cell in Mabaale town council in Kagadi district, witnessed another armed robbery as two unidentified gunmen raided the area, targeting Shamilla Nakawesi, who operates a motorcycle shop. The incident occurred at around 8 p.m. on Wednesday night. The gunmen waylaid Nakawesi as she was returning home from her shop.

They emerged from a nearby bush, brandishing firearms, and forcibly held her at gunpoint. Demanding that she surrender all the money she had, Nakawesi handed over her bag containing an unspecified amount of money to the robbers. In an attempt to intimidate, the thugs fired bullets into the air before fleeing the scene. Edward Irumba, the Mabaale Town Council LC III Chairperson regretted the incident.

He called on the police to conduct a thorough investigation into the source of the firearms used in terrorizing the area. In just five days, two people have fallen victim to armed robbers in the region. Julius Hakiza, the Albertine region police spokesperson, suspects that the robbers may have been monitoring Nakawesi's movements.

He said a team of flying squad operatives has been dispatched to track down the robbers, and urged the public to cooperate by providing crucial information that could lead to their arrest. This incident comes shortly after another armed robbery in Mabaale town council where Shillings 4 million was stolen from a businesswoman at gunpoint.

The victim, Evarce Kutusa Nyabwana, who operates a hardware shop in Mabaale town council, was attacked and robbed as she was returning home. The assailants grabbed her bag containing money and fired shots in the air before fleeing the scene.

Nyabwana was rushed to St. Ambrose Health Center III after collapsing during the robbery.  She recounted the incident, stating that two gunmen emerged from a nearby bush, threatened her, and demanded her valuables while warning her not to raise the alarm.
