Kalangala Lay Leader Dies In Accident Returning from Burial of Another Christian

Vivian Amanio Nalumansi, a lay leader in Kasekulo Church of Uganda has died in an accident along Masaka-Bukakata Road. Nalumansi was returning from the burial ceremony of a fellow Christian in Kayabwe, Masaka district.

Vivian Amanio Nalumansi, a lay leader in Kasekulo Church of Uganda has died in an accident along Masaka-Bukakata Road accident. Nalumansi was returning from the  burial ceremony of a fellow Christian in Kayabwe, Masaka district.

The deceased has been a  lay leader for 15years in churches of Misonzi, Jjaana, Kitobo and Kisaba C.O.U.

Now, the accident occurred Wednesday evening after an over speeding UAS 117S Prado land cruiser hit a hump and overturned, killing Nalumansi on spot. Meanwhile,  7 other  people sustained injuries and are currently in critical condition. 

The victims  travelled for the  burial of Zalwango Betty. Zalwango was a resident of Kasekulo Landing site and some of her children were in the same car that overturned.

An eye witness only known as Deo says the driver was rushing to catch up with the last ferry which crosses at 5pm from Bukakata in Masaka to Bugoma in Kalangala.

"They were 8 in number but the lay leader died on the spot and the other 7 are in critical condition in Masaka Referral Hospital," he adds.

Edward Walakira the Ssese Parish leader says Nalumansi has been a committed servant who had surrendered her life to serve God. 

"Though Nalumansi is dead, she has left a legacy in her services to the island Churches,"Reverand Edward adds.
