Kampala district has this year recorded the biggest number of recruits into the Uganda Police Force. The Assistant Police spokesperson, Judith Nabakooba says more than 80 people were recruited in Kampala district compared to 28 people in Bushenyi and much lower numbers in other districts. Nabakooba says that Kampala was given special status during the selection exercise because it's heavily populated. //Cue in: iKampala was# Cue out: #in the area.i// According to Nabakoba, Kalangala district failed to fill its quota of 15 officers. About 1,300 recruits 30% of who are girls will start their nine months training in mid April at Masindi training school. Police is currently struggling to lower its police to population ratio from 1 policeman to 1928 to one policeman to 771 which is still high compared to the 450 approved by the UN.
