Sylvia Bahireira, one of the contestants in the Kamwenge District Woman Member of Parliament race, has rejected the results from the NRM primaries.

Bahireira, who polled 25,453 votes, was defeated by the incumbent Dorothy Azeirwe Kabaritsya who garnered 37,938 votes.

The other candidates in the race were Jovita Katusiime Owoyesigire who got 5,974, Florence Hashaka Kabahweza who garnered 4,761, and Best Kabarokore who 520 votes.

But Bahireira says the election was characterized by voter-bribery and the votes that the NRM District registrar Asuman Mugisha declared were not tallying with those on the declaration forms that were signed by her agents.

His district coordinator, Dismas Nema Bahireira, argues that they are gathering more evidence to prove that they were rigged out of the race.

Cue in: “We have found…

Cue out… polls are repeated."//

However, Mugisha quashed the allegations by Bahireira and her coordinator, saying the voting exercise was free and fair and there is no need of repeating the polls.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Gender, Labour and Social Development Frank Tumwebaze

won in Kibale East County, defeating his two other opponents.

He pulled 34,925 votes, while Justus Kato Bahati got 5,086 votes and Dickens Asasira was the last with 2,806 votes.

In Kibaale County, the incumbent Engineer Cuthbert Abigaba Mirembe beat his opponents Prosper Musiime and James Birungi Ozo – the former FDC Deputy Secretary for International and Regional Affairs who crossed to the NRM party last year.

Mirembe polled 30,616 votes, Musiime 7,913 votes and Birungi Ozo came last with 3,353.
