Treasure Life Center- TLC multipurpose sports center in the city suburb of Kamwokya has started taking shape. Construction works kicked off in February this year with funding from the Kamwokya Christian Caring Center in partnership with Switzerland-based Foundation AMEROPA.

Apparently, most of the works on the indoor stadium comprising a gym, sports arena and community hall are at a climax. Lawrence Mukiibi, the Coordinator of the Youth Program at Kamwokya Christian Caring Center, says that they expect to complete the works in February next year.

He says that once completed the facility will host both indoor and outdoor sporting activities such as futsal, netball, basketball, and handball among others.  The Shillings 4 billion multi-purpose sports facility is intended to enable young talents to showcase their abilities in an organized manner.

He says that the project will be under the management of Kamwokya Christian Caring Community, which will offer priority to vulnerable children in Kamwokya at no cost. He says that since it is an international sports facility, they will invite several professional sports federations to host their games at the stadium.

Mukiibi also revealed that all causal laborers used at the site were deliberately picked from Kamwokya as a way of engaging them in the project directly.

"The community has welcomed the project, for starters, most of the casual laborers we have are from the community because we wanted them to be part of the project, and for the sake of continuity and sustainability if there is no community ownership it becomes a challenge," Mukiibi narrated.

Adding that “We tried to address that gap and we have also continued to ensure that they to the site and what is really going on to appreciate it more because this is their project”.

Grace Nyangoma, a Finance officer at TLC told Uganda Radio Network –URN that they have not faced major challenges in their work.

Treasure Life Center Multi-purpose sports facility comes at a time when Uganda needs more such facilities. Apparently, only Lugogo MTN indoor Arena and the incomplete Makerere indoor sports complex are recognized.
