Health workers at Katakwi General Hospital have resumed work after holding a sit down strike against harassment by politicians.
On Thursday, the workers held a sit-down strike protesting the manner in which one of their colleague was assaulted by the Getom Sub County councillor, David Okiror. The strike disrupted services at the facility.
However, after a meeting on Friday with district leaders chaired by Katakwi Resident District Commissioner, Katende Hussein Kibanjo and the arrest of Okiror, the health workers resumed work.
Kibanjo criticized Okiror's conduct and warned other district leaders against undermining the work of health workers.

Early this month, Okiror assaulted Grace Madudu after she told him that the particular drug he wanted was out of stock. He also assaulted Simon Peter Opus, the hospital guard.
Patrick Okaali, the in- charge of Katakwi General Hospital theatre challenged the district security team to protect the staff.
