John Ogwal, the LCIII Chairperson of Nabwal Sub County, said that they ordered all the people to remove cows from protected kraals and keep them within their backyards around the home compound.
Authorities in Nabwal Sub-county, Napak district, have
instructed communities to withdraw all their cattle from the protected kraals.
The communities have been keeping cows in the protected
kraals manned by the security forces following the rampant theft of cows by
Karamojong warriors.
Under this system, pastoralists graze their cows daily and
hand them over to the security forces at night for protection.
However, it is reported that some of the community
members started joining groups of raiders to steal cows from other sub-counties,
knowing that theirs are protected from the kraal.
The sub-county council resolved that each person keep their
cattle at home, be vigilant, and report cases of wrong people in the community.
John Ogwal, the LCIII Chairperson of Nabwal Sub County, said
that they ordered all the people to remove cows from protected kraals and keep
them within their backyards around the home compound.
Ogwal noted that when the cattle were at the protected
kraal, some individuals took advantage to go and raid other communities when
nobody tampered with theirs.
Ogwal observed that the security situation is relatively
calm and there is no need for the community to worry about the safety of their
cows.

Cue out :.......is still relaxed".//
Milton Odongo, the Napak Resident District Commissioner,
acknowledged that they are experiencing some relative peace, except for a few
isolated incidents from other sub-counties.
Odongo noted that the communities can peacefully engage in
farming without any threats of insecurity perpetrated by the warriors.
Odongo said that the district security committee is also
working with the joint forces to restore total peace in the district.
He said that there are currently a few wrong elements who
are collaborating with raiders from other districts to raid cows.
Odongo reiterated that they are using their intelligence to
apprehend the collaborators of cattle rustlers.
