According to the candidates, various cases of electoral mal-practices involving ballot stuffing, voter intimidation, and arrest of National Unity Platform-NUP polling agents have been reported in Bbaale, Kayonza, Kitimbwa, Kangurumira, Nazigo, and Kayunga sub-counties.
Opposition candidates in the Kayunga LC 5 chairperson by-elections want
the Electoral Commission-EC to disregard results
from sub-counties where cases of electoral malpractices have been reported.
According to the candidates, various cases of electoral mal-practices involving
ballot stuffing, voter intimidation, and arrest of National Unity Platform-NUP
polling agents have been reported in Bbaale, Kayonza, Kitimbwa, Kangurumira, Nazigo, and Kayunga sub-counties.
Harriet Nakwede, the NUP candidate, says that the majority of her
coordinators have been arrested and taken to unknown destinations to interrupt
her vote protection plan.
Three
of those arrested are members of parliament namely Aloysius
Mukasa, Charles Tebandeke, and Lukyamuzi Kalwanga.
According to Nakwede, they are currently out of manpower to follow up on those arrested since whoever attempted to go to their
rescue also got arrested.

Jamir Kamoga, an independent candidate, says that they have mobilized a team of
youths to interrupt the tallying process at the district headquarters should EC
consider results from the chaotic
sub-counties.

The Resident District Commissioner-RDC, Kigozi Ssempala has advised candidates to use peaceful means to avoid being roughed up by security
operatives.

EC has set up a
complaints desk at Kayunga district headquarters comprising EC commissioners to
handle matters arising from the field.
