Soroti West Division Police Commander, Muhammad Rashid Byansi, revealed that authorities were alerted by Caroline Alio, the guest house manager, who reported that one of their guests had been allegedly strangled.
Denis Mujomba, a 32-year-old student from Kenya Aviation School, has been found dead at Tedwills Guest House in Nakatunya Ward, Soroti City, where he had been staying for two weeks. The shocking incident unfolded around 5 am on Wednesday.
Soroti West Division Police Commander, Muhammad Rashid Byansi, revealed that authorities were alerted by Caroline Alio, the guest house manager, who reported that one of their guests had been allegedly strangled. Mujomba, who had previously been residing in senior quarters in Soroti, had moved to the guest house with his girlfriend, Roy Rita Nabassumba.
Nabassumba has since been detained as the prime suspect in the investigation.
Byansi noted that the guest house staff, including the manager, receptionist, and security personnel (askari), are cooperating with the police to help uncover the circumstances leading to Mujomba's death.
