Ugandans
have been asked to emulate the Uganda martyrs by desisting acts of corruption
and injustice.
Bishop
Samson Mwaluda from Kenya cautioned believers that indulgence in sinful
practice is disobedience to God that must be resisted. While
commending the martyrs for resisting the sinful cultural practices, Mwaluda
lamented over Christians who are toiling with acts of adultery, sexual
immorality, and corruption in Christian nations.
While
preaching at the Martyrs’ celebrations at the Anglican site at Namugongo,
Bishop Mwaluda warned that injustice is sin before God and that sin prevails
when believers take no action.
Bishop
Mwaluda, a retired cleric from Taita-Taveta in Kenya was speaking about the
theme; Hope beyond affliction. He castigated leaders who use their
positions to perpetrate acts of sin and disobedience saying that irrespective
of their position, sin is disobedience that must be forsaken.
According to
Bishop Mwaluda, the Christian life is a commitment and not for convenience or a
club. Bishop Mwaluda said it is only through these values that Africa
can change its destiny from being a haven of corrupt people looting the
continent to enriching the rich European nations.
He said that
the Christians should walk like martyrs fearlessly to create a large
Christian army that will redeem Africa from poverty.

The
Archbishop of the Church of Uganda Dr. Stephen Kaziimba lamented over the
escalating commodity prices saying that they have made life in Uganda very
difficult. He also observed the challenges undisciplined children faced
by schools after 2 years of lockdown and appealed for counseling services for
students and teachers to ensure peace and learning.
Dr. Kaziimba
asked the churches to establish structures to train boy children into God-fearing people to promote a violence-free society.
The Deputy
Speaker of Parliament, Thomas Tayebwa pledged the commitment of Parliament to build
on the relationship set by their predecessors saying that all church activities
and projects with a budgetary implication shall be handled expeditiously.
Tayebwa also
promised that Parliament will promote the sanctity of the church and that the
institution of the family is protected.

President
Museveni in a speech read for him by the Vice President, Rtd Maj Jessica Alupo,
the president castigated the violence of killing people saying that the results are
irreversible.

Cue out. And human race…”
According to
Museveni, the Kabaka should not have used violence to oppose new ideas for the
betterment of society and the human race. However, Museveni said that it is
a betrayal of the martyrs to get actors claiming to be believers believing in
promoting sectarianism of religion and or tribe.
