Leaders in the Kigezi region have asked President Museveni to fulfil his pledges.
Museveni is in the Kigezi region for a three-day assessment tour of the Parish Development Model.
In a memorandum read by Jim Katugugu Muhwezi, Minister for
Security and later handed over to Museveni, at Rukungiri Municipal Stadium in Rukungiri district, the leaders argue that Museveni
promised to tarmac Kamwezi-Rutobo-Kyogo, Muhanga-Kisiizi-Kebisoni,
in Rukiga and Rukungiri districts Kisoro-Nyarusiza-Muhabuura
road which connects to Mgahinga national park, Kisoro - Rubuguri road that
connects to Buhoma in Kanungu through Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and
Kabale-Bunyonyi road but in vain.
Leaders also say that the pledge to construct the John Kale
Institute in Kisoro district in honour of the late Pan-Africanist, Johnson
Komuluyange Kalekezi, father of retired army General, Gen. Kale Kayihura has not been fulfilled.
The leaders also informed the President about the lack of road equipment which has hindered the rehabilitation of roads. Museveni was also reminded that his honour to construct an Iron ore smelting plant in Rubanda district, establishment of
Industrial hubs in Rukungiri and Kisoro districts to create jobs and skills,
rice hurler to rice farmers in Bwambara sub-county, Rukungiri district are yet to be honoured.
In response,se Museveni said that the pledges will be
honoured as long as Uganda is still experiencing peace and stability. Museveni advised members of the
public to get involved in poultry farming and said that the government has started
a plan to add value to eggs by manufacturing them into food for babies.

Earlier Museveni visited Ayesiga Kenneth, a farmer from Nyamirama
town council, Kanungu district who owns the Parish Model Restaurant, which he
started using PDM funds and has since diversified into the piggery business.
From his restaurant, he generates over one million shillings in profit per
month.
Museveni also pledged a brooder, kitchen hatchery and 50 million Shillings to the Kanungu Nyekundire (NRM Volunteers) group to start a poultry and saving
group.
