Students of Kilembe Senior Secondary School in Kasese municipality
on Thursday staged a demonstration accusing the teachers of absenteeism.
The students locked their classes and marched to the office of the
Resident District Commissioner protesting teacher absenteeism.
Some of the students who spoke on condition of anonymity said the
teachers have been threatening to stop teaching due to delayed payments.

is critical to the performance of their school, adding that a poor performing
headteacher affects the performance of the school.

Marion Katuhaise, a S.5 student says that they have inadequate time
to complete their level and yet they are not being attended to by the teachers.
She also says they are receiving poor services from non-teaching

Later the RDC Lt. Joe Walusimbi held a meeting with both students
and other stakeholders to resolve the impulse.
Walusimbi says that they resolved that the students attend classes
on Friday as his office engages the school administration on the matter.

On Friday morning, the students refused to enter classes demanding an explanation from the Deputy Headteacher Josephine Muhindi.
Walusimbi is currently meeting Muhindi and other members of the school administration.
