Uganda's 2012 London Summer Olympics gold medalist Stephen Kiprotich will lead a team to the NN Mission Marathon slated for April 18th in Enschede, Netherlands.

Namayo Mawerere, the Uganda Athletics Federation (UAF) Publicity Secretary confirmed that the six-man team will have Kiprotich, national Record holder Felix Chemonges, Jackson Kiprop, Victor Kiplangat, Geoffrey Kusuro and Bernard Cheptoch.

Mawerere says Ugandan athletes will be hoping to hit better qualification times  in a bid to improve their individual world rankings ahead of the on-going qualification window for Tokyo Olympics.

“The mission of the Ugandan runners is to hit better qualification marks for Tokyo Olympics that will provide them chance to win one of the three slots available for the Tokyo Games," said Mawerere.

The NN Mission Marathon will feature about 70 athletes, including marathon world record holder Eliud Kipchoge from Kenya.

Originally scheduled for 11 April in Hamburg, the City authorities withdrew permission after a rise in perceived risk of the Coronavirus infection hence postponing and relocating it to Netherlands.
