Kisoro RDC: I Will Not Tolerate Anti Museveni Campaigners

She says the group aims at branding Museveni as a bad leader, which she says she will not tolerate in her district.
Pulkeria Mwiine, the Kisoro Resident District Commissioner says he will not tolerate anti Museveni campaigners in the district. Mwine says anti Museveni campaigners who dare step in the district will be arrested. While addressing a press conference on Sunday evening, the tough speaking Mwine said some people opposed to President Yoweri Museveni had started infiltrating the district to decampaign him.

She says the group aims at branding Museveni as a bad leader, which she says she will not tolerate in her district. She argues that Museveni and other NRM leaders have worked tirelessly to ensure development in the country and must be given chance to operate in a conducive environment to continue developing the country. Mwine appeals to the residents to report any person who comes to the district to campaign against the president.

Her remarks come barely a few hours after Amama Mbabazi, the NRM secretary defended NRM members who are uncomfortable with the NRM caucus resolution endorsing Museveni as the sole party candidate ahead of the 2016 general polls. The Premier who attended a church service at St. Peters Cathedral Rugarama said party members are entitled to their opinion and therefore nobody should dare touch them. He said whoever arrests people because of expressing their views does it illegally.

On February 9th the NRM caucus adopted a resolution endorsing Museveni as the sole party candidate. The caucus argued that the resolution was aimed at maintaining party cohesion since some party officials were suspected of using their positions to mobilize support ahead of the 2016 election. However, the resolution has largely been interpreted as a ploy by some party members to block Mbabazi’s presidential ambitions.
