Six candidates will contest for the Kisoro Woman MP by-election. This follows the conclusion of the two-day exercise.
On Thursday the Electoral Commission nominated four candidates. They are Aisha Chimpaye, the People's Progressive Party (PPP) Party flag bearer, Grace Akifeza Ngabirano an independent candidate, Sultana Salim Tana of the National Unity Platform (NUP) party and Marble Ingabire of Uganda People’s Congress-UPC.
Chimpaye said that despite Kisoro being known for supporting the NRM party, she is ready to prove that other
parties have support too. She promised to cooperate with other relevant stakeholders
towards developing Kisoro district. She says that Kisoro people are tired of
empty promises from the government.

Ngabirano who last week lost in the NRM Party elections, said that she was forced to contest as an independent because she was her votes were rigged in the primaries.

Sultana Salim Tana was accompanied by Francis Zaake, Mityana Municipality MP
and David Lewis Rubongoya, NUP party Secretary General.
After
nomination, she was joined by the party President, Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu
alias Bobi Wine. They held a procession through Kisoro Main Street and opened the party office in Kisoro town.
She promised to advocate for projects that the government
failed to fulfil citing John Kale Institute and Tourism Roads.

Ingabire promised to improve service delivery in the district. She also promised to promote unity among the people of Kisoro.
On Wednesday, two candidates were nominated. They are Rose Kabagyeni, the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party candidate and Musanase Juliet, the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party candidate under the Najjanankumbi faction.

Returning Officer said that all candidates will meet on Saturday and
harmonize on campaign schedules.
The campaigns
will kick off on Sunday according to the adjusted EC program while voting will take place on
November 14.
