Robin Odong, a cop attached to Akilok Police post in Kitgum District is battling for his life at Lacor Hospital after he was assaulted by his live-in girlfriend during a domestic brawl.

Odong was rushed to Kitgum hospital on Saturday night in critical condition but he was referred to Lacor hospital in Gulu.

Odong has been on life support since he was transferred to Lacor Hospital. Dennis Ochama, the Kitgum District Police Commander says the cop was involved in an extra marital affair, which led to a violent clash with Josephine Oyella.

He allegedly entered this fateful relationship two weeks ago.

He explains that Oyella is being at Kitgum Central Police Station awaiting a decision from the resident state attorney whether she should undergo trial for attempted murder or a Sexual Gender Based Violence (SGBV) attack.

Ochama however says the cop is out of immediate danger adding that, they are still investigating what led to the fight. He admits that there are isolated cases of sexual and gender based violence among police officers as well.

Maragret Adongkare, the Officer in charge of Child and Family Protection Unit, says more men are slowly beginning to report cases of sexual and gender based violence in the district due to increased sensitization.
