According to Kyagulanyi, the NRM has made and continues to make empty promises of delivering Teso from poverty through cattle compensation and other interventions, something he notes has taken decades to be realized.
Robert Kyagulanyi, the National
Unity Platform (NUP) President has asked the people of Teso to wake up from the illusion of
breaking poverty chains under the National Resistance Movement (NRM)
government.
Kyagulanyi, alias Bobi Wine, made the remarks while appearing on a radio talk show on Kyoga Veritas Radio in Soroti City on Saturday.
According to Kyagulanyi, the NRM has made and continues to
make empty promises of delivering Teso from poverty through cattle compensation
and other interventions, something he notes has taken decades to be realized.

Cue out…the colonialists did.”//
Kyagulanyi said that NUP’s mobilization drive is to empower people, especially young people, to demand their rights and realize their dreams. He urged the local communities to embrace change to propel development, empowering government systems and local investments.

Kyagulanyi’s remarks coincide with the ongoing cattle compensation
of the Iteso, Lango, and Acholi communities after over two decades. The cattle
compensation program has, however, encountered several setbacks including infiltration
of the list, delayed payment, and extortion. The program has also left out
several prospective beneficiaries who were not able to register with the
authorities to enable them to claim for compensation, especially after losing
their loved ones.
Kyagulanyi’s visit to Soroti was characterized by heavy
deployment of the police that blocked major access roads to the city centre,
forcing the team to use alternative routes to access the venue. However, the group
successfully carried out all the planned activities including addressing a public
rally at Soroti Arrow Square.
The East Kyoga Regional Police Commander, Damalie Nachusa
said that the team was cleared for the Soroti event from the Police
Headquarters in Naguru.
Kyagulanyi was in Abim on Friday and is expected to continue
with his mobilization tours to the Elgon and Busoga sub-regions.
