Lakwena War victims Demand UShs 1b in Reparations

More than 100 victims of the Alice Lakwena insurgency in West Budama, Tororo District are demanding for war reparations.



The victims have written to the President under the Lakwena war victim committee demanding for one Billion shillings as compensation for the loss of lives and properties.



The war claimants are mainly from Mulanda, Nabuyoga, Kirewa, Iyolwa and Magola, subcounties all in West Budama counties, which was hard hit by the Lakwena insurgency in the 1990s.



According to the letter written by Mary Frida Ochwo, the committee interim chairperson, the victims want compensation for destroyed properties, food crops and their dear ones who lost their lives during the war.
