The Chief Administrative Officer Francis Majjeme says Akena’s case is too complex and criminal in nature since during his interdiction it was discovered that he forged documents and signatures of his accounting officer and withdrew 14 million Shillings from the sub-county bank accounts.
An accounts
assistant of Paluga and Madi Opei Sub Counties in Lamwo district has been interdicted
for the second time.
Francis
Simon Akena was interdicted last year alongside six other staff of Lamwo
district local government after they were accused of abuse of office, gross
absenteeism, and misappropriation of public funds.
After staying out of office for over a year,
the interdicted officers petitioned the district leadership over wrongful
interdiction without undergoing the rightful procedures as stipulated in the
Public Service Standing Orders and nonpayment of their partial salary arrears.
Their complaints
appeared before the rewards and sanction committee that lifted their
interdictions and recommended that they resume work with sanctions and
reprimands of recovery of the lost funds.
The Chief Administrative
Officer Francis Majjeme says Akena’s case is too complex and criminal in nature
since during his interdiction it was discovered that he forged documents and
signatures of his accounting officer and withdrew 14 million Shillings from the sub-county bank accounts.
According to
Majjeme, Akena has been interdicted pending forensic investigations by the
Criminal Investigation Department at Lamwo Central Police Station.

The Lamwo LCV
Chairperson Sisto Ocen Oyet, admits to the delays in administering justice to
those who were implicated but says they took a decision to respond to their
petition on a case-by-case basis that saw all of them subjected to disciplinary
measures.

Oyet says
that the administration will not condone tendencies of corruption, misconduct,
and abuse of office which have always impacted negatively on service delivery.
