Lamwo District
councilors have rejected the nomination of David Odongmadiki as the District
Vice Chairperson.
On Wednesday,
the LCV Chairperson Oyet Sisto Ocen reshuffled members of his executive
committee. In the reshuffle, Oyet relinquished the position of Secretary
for Education and appointed Robinson Obale the councilor representing Lamwo
Town Council who has been the district secretary for Works and Technical Services.
Oyet took
over the position of Secretary for Production and Marketing from Doris Abalo,
the district youth secretary who was appointed Secretary works and technical
services.
Mathew Okoya
Akera the councilor representing Palabek Ogili Sub County was dropped as
District Vice Chairperson and replaced by Odongmadiki the councilor
representing Palabek Gem Sub County.
Justine
Peace Odur the district councilor V representing Padibe Aceba Sub County
retained his seat as the district secretary for finance, planning, and
administration.

Atii, the councilor representing Female Workers rejected the nomination arguing
that the district executive committee was dominated by men and the district
chairperson should consider nominating a female.
The female
councilor representing Lokung Sub County Jennifer Lakot protested the
nomination Odongmadikdi on grounds that Palabek County has two members on the
executive.
According to Lakot, the District Speaker James
Passi Ochola, the outgoing vice chairperson, and the incoming vice chairperson all
hail from Palabek County.
The matter
raised divergent views prompting Ochola to adjourn that council meeting for
some minutes before subjecting the house to a vote. However, the councilors
rejected and tasked the District Chairperson to make fresh nominations.
