The Lango Paramount Chief, Yosam Odur has asked President, Yoweri Museveni for additional security. Currently, Odur has a single police guard deployed at his home in Teboke Trading Center in Chegere Sub County in Apac district.

He now wants President, Yoweri Museveni to assign him more security personnel and provide him with a double cabin pickup to transport the guards. "My life is currently under threat from some wrong element. I have learnt of their plot, and government should help me with more security," Odur said.

Jacob Ocen, the Spokesperson of Lango Cultural Institution, says the council of clan heads is yet to discuss and approve Odur's request for additional security.

Joseph Okello, a Gender Development Specialist agrees with Odur's plea for additional security. According to Okello, Odur being the head of the Lango tribal group deserves a credible security network from government.

Okello argues that providing Odur with additional security personnel and a lead vehicle will enhance his safety compared to his current state where he has a single police guard.

Arnold Otim, a resident of Adyel Division, believes Odur's security is at risk due to the leadership wrangles that has split the cultural institution. There are at least four factions under the cultural institution each led by a parallel paramount chief appointed by the clan heads.

Col. Tony Otoa, the Strategic Advisor in the rival camp led by Dr. Eng. Michael Odongo, says no body after Odur's life. He says they petitioned Lira High Court to challenge Odur's legality as head of Lango.

This is not the first time Odur is asking President Museveni for additional security and lead car. In 2016, Odur asked President Museveni for a double cabin pick up to transport his security detail.

Government instead replaced his official car that had broken down. David Ongom Mudong, the North Kyoga Region Police spokesperson has advised Odur to put his request in writing for consideration.
