Hoima Regional Referral hospital no longer has any Covid-19
patient after the last three were discharged on Thursday.
The three patients include one man from Buliisa district and two women
from Kyankwanzi district.
The women tested positive
for the disease on June 8, 2020, from Namuliro Trading centre after they had
returned from Mutukula in Kyotera District.
Since March, the Hoima Hospital has treated 15 COVID-19 patients
who fully recovered.
Dr Lawrence Tumusiime, the in charge of the Hoima COVID-19 Treatment Unit
attributes the success to the commitment of the health workers who he says
performed their duties tirelessly.
He says that the COVID-19 treatment unit will remain open and the
health workers are on standby to receive any other cases.
The first COVID-19 patient to be treated at the Hoima COVID-19 Treatment Unit
was a prominent businesswoman in Hoima who returned from Dubai and tested positive
to COVID-19. The second patient was a police officer attached to the Masindi
Central police station who tested positive during the health ministry community
The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country has risen to 902.
