Leaders in Kwania Petition RDC over Insecurity

The LCI Chairman of Angole-inyang Simon Omunu says his office is overwhelmed with increasing criminal cases ranging from domestic violence, simple robbery, rape and defilement among others.
Authorities of Apire parish in Aduku Sub County, Kwania District have petitioned the office of the Resident District Commissioner of Salim Komakech to beef up security in the area.

This follows increasing cases of insecurity in the area.

The LCI Chairman of Angole-inyang Simon Omunu says his office is overwhelmed with increasing criminal cases ranging from domestic violence, simple robbery, rape and defilement among others.

He explains that his office has received 17 cases of domestic violence, 9 simple robberies, 11 defilement, and 4 rape cases, among others within a space of only three weeks.

Omunu says recently a group of 40 suspected youths from his area attacked the Bishop of West Lango ’s palace  in Aduku town council and stole electric wires among other valuable items but when the incident was reported to police no action was taken.

52-year-old Betty Amodo, a resident of the area says due to the deteriorated insecurity in the area they are sometimes forced to sleep hungry since they cannot easily access firewood and water.

Fred Odongo Ogwang, the LCII Chairperson of Apire attributed the increasing criminal cases in the area to failure of the security to work with locals and conduct joint operation to curb down the vice.

When contacted the Resident District Commissioner of Kwania Salim Komakech acknowledged receiving the petition pledging to take action on the matter.
