Lightning Claims Two in Kasese On Easter Sunday

Speaking from the scene, Moris Mumbere, the Lay Reader for Rwabitooke Church of Uganda, said the tragedy hit the area during a down pour accompanied by a storm at about 3pm.
Lightning struck dead two people and injured two others in Rwabitooke village in Muhokya in Kasese district on Easter Sunday.

 

Eric Mutanywana, the LC I chairperson, Rwabitooke village identifies the dead as 32 year-old Pesi Mwahulhwa and her 16-year-old daughter Brenda Muhindo.

 

The injured include a two- months-old baby and her 3 year-old sibling.  They were rushed to hospital for treatment. Mutanywana says the duo was hit by the thunderbolt in their home.

According to Mumbere, the family had just returned home from the Easter Sunday church service when the tragedy struck.
