The Lugazi Grade One Magistrate has ordered for the arrest of four police officers for defying court summons.

They were supposed to appear in court on Wednesday to answer to charges of manslaughter.

In October last year, Kigayaya-Golomola land measuring 85 acres that belongs to Buganda Kingdom was sold to Ronald Kibule, the State Minister for Water Resources by the caretaker Musa Katerega.

Kibule later deployed police and the army to guard the land and evict the occupants. However during a scuffle, Dickson Wasswa 52 a resident of Kigaya was killed.

Four police officers attached to Lugazi Police Station were arrested and charged for manslaughter.  They include David Wasswa, Kibul Owiny, Patrick Abor and Benson Odaga.

The suspects were supposed to appear at the Lugazi court to start hearing of the case, but they failed to turn up.

This prompted the Grade I Magistrate Aisha Nabukeera to issue an arrest warrant of the police officers to appear in court on 14th December without fail.

Sanyu Nassali, the widow says that she was happy by the ruling of the magistrate. She explains that she wants justice to prevail.
