Sheikh Ramadhan Mulindwa Nsanja, the Kadhi of Luwero Muslim District, has urged local leaders, including Imams and Sheikhs, to moderate their involvement in political activities and instead encourage their communities to focus on wealth creation.
With the 2026 general elections approaching, Sheikh Mulindwa has noted rising political tensions in the area, with some leaders being targeted by candidates looking to exploit their platforms for political advantage. According to the Electoral Commission (EC), a revised roadmap for the 2025/2026 General Elections was published in August 2024.
Sheikh Mulindwa's remarks came during the inauguration of Masjid Umar Ibn Khatwab in Kikyusa Muslim County. During the ceremony, he also presented a Toyota Spacio to Sheikh Âbdul-Latif Walakira, the County Sheikh of Kikyusa, to enhance service delivery.
The construction of the mosque was funded by the Albayan Charity Organization. Sheikh Mulindwa emphasized the importance of utilizing land for wealth generation as a strategy to alleviate poverty, urging the Muslim community to prioritize economic empowerment over political engagement for the time being.
