The administration of Madi West Nile Diocese has unveiled plans to raise UGX 5 billion to resume and complete the construction of a multi-billion diocesan office block. The UGX 7 billion, four-story office complex was launched in 2018, with an initial expectation of completion within four years, funded by contributions from Christians and well-wishers.

However, due to funding challenges, the construction committee has only managed to erect skeletal pillars for two levels and a ground floor, estimated to have cost over UGX 1.3 billion. On April 7th last year, Rt. Rev. Charles Collins Andaku, the Bishop of Madi West Nile Diocese, celebrated his seventh year in office by dedicating over UGX 300 million raised during the day to continue the construction. However, this was insufficient to make significant progress on the complex.

The committee has now decided to organize a series of fundraising events, starting with one on March 2nd, 2025, where over UGX 800 million is expected to be raised. The funds will be used to pay outstanding interim certificates and resume work on the third level of the building.

Richard Anguyo, the Chairperson of the Central Organizing Committee for the Diocesan Jubilee Office and fundraising efforts, stated that the immediate target is to raise UGX 800 million. Part of this will be used to offset outstanding interim certificates for completed works and to construct the third-level skeletal structure, with plans to secure more funds afterward.

Bishop Andaku has appealed to Christians and people of goodwill to support the Jubilee House project, which will accommodate the Bishop's office, the Diocesan Secretariat, and office rentals to generate income for the diocese.

The project committee has also devised new strategies, including radio talk shows, social media campaigns, and encouraging Christians to donate a bag of cement or contribute up to one million shillings to support the church project during fundraising events.

Bishop Andre Titre of Aruu in the DR Congo is expected to attend the fundraising event, accompanied by a delegation from the territorial archdiocese of DRC. In addition to the office complex project, the Diocese of Madi West Nile has initiated an annual tree planting program across its 12 archdeaconries to conserve the environment and mitigate climate change.

They are also sensitizing Christians about the upcoming elections for the Church of Uganda House of Bishops, the Clergy, and the House of Laity.
