Samson Kasasira, the Rwizi Region Police Spokesperson, revealed that, upon the arrest on Sunday evening, the suspect was found with severed body parts, including fingers and toes, in his house.
Police
in Ntungamo are holding 34-year-old Nelson Akandwanaho, a resident of
Kyanyanzira village in Rubaare sub-county, on suspicion of killing his
11-year-old nephew, Patrick Ariho, a pupil at Kiyombero Primary School. The local
council chairperson of Kyanyanzira village, Steven Basiima, reported that
Akandwanaho's wife contacted him after discovering a hand in the saucepan of
meat her husband provided for cooking.
Basiima,
along with others, cordoned off the suspect's house to prevent escape. Attempts
to persuade Akandwanaho to open the door failed, forcing them to break in and
subsequently hand him over to Omungyenyi police post.

Obed Mugume, the defense secretary of
Kyanyanzira village, mentioned that other body parts, such as the abdomen,
legs, and arms, were discovered in the suspect's toilet and the grandparents'
latrine. Kasasira confirmed that the suspect has been transferred to Ntungamo Central police station while investigations are ongoing.
