Man Held For Stabbing Girlfriend’s Neck

It is alleged that Otimango attacked Jeralyne Okurut and cut her neck in the wee hours of this morning following a misunderstanding. Okurut, who is hospitalized in the Jinja Regional Referral Hospital Emergency unit, says Otimango stormed her residence uninvited around 1:00am Wednesday morning.

A 26-year-old man in Jinja district is in trouble cutting the neck of his girlfriend. The suspect is Jackson Otimango, a resident of Walukuba west village in Jinja municipality.    

It is alleged that Otimango attacked Jeralyne Okurut and cut her neck in the wee hours of this morning following a misunderstanding. 

Okurut, who is hospitalized in the Jinja Regional Referral Hospital Emergency unit, says Otimango stormed her residence uninvited around 1:00am Wednesday morning.

 

She explained that Otimango woke her up around 4:00am demanding to discuss the challenges in their relationship. He reportedly turned violent and stabbed her when she declined to discuss with him. 

According to Okurut, Otimango fled the scene living her at the mercy of her neighbors who rushed her to hospital. 

She reveals that Otimango went to the hospital in the morning and cautioned her against involving authorities in the matter.

Charles Etilu, the In charge of the Emergency clinic, says Okurut is currently stable and has been taken to the theater for further management.

Otimango downplayed the allegations claiming that Okurut stabbed herself. 

“Okurut is so possessive and after suspecting that I had cheated on her with another lady, she attempted to commit suicide and in fear of the repercussions, I fled,” he said. 

Abby Ngako, the Kiira Region Police Spokesperson, says the suspect face attempted murder charges.
