A man in Bunyangabu district
is on the run for
allegedly assaulting a suspected thief to death. David
Akugizibwe, a resident of Kyaibumba zone in Rwimi Sub County, the proprietor of Avenue Gardens reportedly fled the area after beating the suspect only identified as Fahad for allegedly stealing
his Music system on Saturday.

Twesigye confirms the incident noting that after assaulting Fahad, Akugizibwe
dropped him at Rwimi police station. Due to his sorry state, the police rushed him to Good Hope clinic
in Rwimi where he passed on Sunday as they prepared to transfer him to Fort
Portal for better treatment.
Twesigye says that the deceased’s
hospital is lying at Fort Portal Regional referral hospital pending post-mortem
to ascertain the exact cause of death. He notes that
statements from potential witnesses have been obtained by police detectives, adding that efforts to apprehend the suspect
who is still on the run are underway.
