Police in Kiboga District are holding a 43-year-old man for allegedly killing his wife following a fight in their home.

A 43-year-old man in Kiboga District has been
arrested and detained for allegedly killing his wife in a domestic brawl.
It is alleged that Ibra Byayo, a resident of Kiwanguzi
Village in Kiboga Town Council killed his 47-year-old wife Ruth
Nakigudde on May 24 this year and shortly after the said act, he reported
himself to the Police.
Wamala Region Police Spokesperson, Racheal Kawala confirmed
the incident saying that the police force have arrested Byayo pending
investigations into a murder case.
She said that the suspect is currently detained at
Kiboga Central Police Station while the deceased’s body was been conveyed to
Kiboga hospital pending a postmortem.
The Police preliminary findings show that on the
morning of May 24, Byayo picked a quarrel with his wife which resulted
into assaulting her severely with an axe.
Kawala said that upon realizing the extent of his
action, the suspect reported himself to the police leading to his arrest.
According to the Police, Nakigudde died as she was
being rushed to Kiboga hospital.
Kawala said that the police detectives have visited
the scene of the crime and documented and that exhibits of a hammer and axe
used in the crime have been recovered.
Wamala region was named in the 2021 annual crime report of the Police
with the least cases domestic violence at only 83.
