Dr. Juko says that all these health workers that were in contact with the deceased have been identified and they have started taking samples from them so that they can establish their status.
Health authorities in Masaka have listed 32 health workers
and 20 other persons that were in contact with a Covid-19 victim before he succumbed to
covid-19 in Masaka Hospital.
The 20 people include friends, relatives and attendants of a 56-year-old police officer that died of covid-19 at Masaka regional referral hospital.
According to Dr. Mark Juko Masaka wo is in charge of the regional covid-19 treatment center, between Friday and Wednesday when the police officer
passed on he had interacted with at least 32 health workers at the regional referral
hospital.
Dr. Juko says that all these health workers that were in contact with the deceased have been identified and they have started taking samples from them so that they can
establish their status.
He says that after completing testing the health workers, they
are going to embark on taking samples from people that interacted with the
deceased.

Juko says that they may quarantine some health workers
to avoid putting their workmates at risk of contracting the virus.
He says that all the 52 contacts are going to be subjected to
the covid-19 test to be sure that they are not at a risk.
On Monday, Masaka regional referral hospital reported its
first death related to covid-19 and since then the health team at the treatment center has been trying to identify contacts of the fallen police officer.
Meanwhile, Kyabagonya Police post in Lwengo district where
the deceased has been working has been temporarily closed as the police
officers are undergoing testing and disinfecting of the police premises takes place.
The southern regional police spokesperson, Muhamad Nsubuga
has advised people that have been using this police post to seek services from
the neighboring police stations.
The Masaka regional treatment center still has 11 patients that are undergoing treatment.
