Masindi Headteacher Arrested for Aggravated Defilement

Nicholas Kiiza Sentamu 38, the Headteacher of Kijunjubwa primary school in Kijunjubwa sub-county, has been arrested for allegedly defiling three pupils. 

Sentamu was arrested on Tuesday after some parents reported the matter to higher authorities in the district.

Gerald Muhumuza, the Parents Teachers Association (PTA) Chairperson of the school says, some teachers at the school learnt of the headteacher's actions long ago but feared to report him to higher authorities.

Mansur Bwohe, the Kijunjubwa sub-county LCIII Chairperson, condemned the action of the headteacher tasking the police to thoroughly investigate the matter so that the defilement victims can get justice.

Bwohe says, on several occasions, Sentamu has been defiling the pupils and threatening them with dismissal from the school if they report the matter to their parents.   

However, the victims could not withstand his habit anymore and revealed the matter to their parents.

Julius Hakiza, the Albertine region police spokesperson says, available information at the police indicates that two of the defiled girls are aged 14 while the other is aged 13 years. 

He says the headteacher who is currently detained at the Masindi Central police station will be arraigned before the court to be charged with aggravated defilement.  

In October 2022, Masindi Police arrested Yosea Kiiza, the headteacher of St. Kizito Primary School Murro on accusations of defiling a 15-year-old P.7 pupil at his school.  

Detectives from Masindi central police station rushed to the school after the girl's father opened a defilement case against the headteacher.   

According to the information gathered then, the headteacher had been defiling the teenager for some time not until the minor revealed the matter to the school matron.   The matron informed the administration, which also notified the minor's father. 

Upon interrogation by police, the minor confessed that she had severally been defiled by her headteacher. Police subjected the girl to a medical examination, which confirmed she had been defiled.
